I can't say for sure but I'll assume what you say is true about two Menke families in the Furstenau area, one Catholic, one Lutheran. I am aware of one or two Menke women who married but kept the Menke surname due to inheriting the family estate. In fact, the generation furthest back that we know about is Anna Helena MenkeMatthew Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17470236018203715367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7428431605173662318.post-954202416571035962021-03-17T18:00:26.468-05:002021-03-17T18:00:26.468-05:00The problem here may be confusion of common names....The problem here may be confusion of common names. There were TWO main Menke families in that region of Germany. One Catholic my father and Jim's family and Lutheran. To further confuse things there are three main branches of Jim's family. My father and Jim are from the eldest 3, then there are 4 half siblings from a second marriage, and a 3rd step sibling from a third marriage. I looked in my database and found a Marie Catherine Menke, born in 1809 in Schwagstorf. She married a Bernard Heinrich von der Haar there and apparently never left Germany so I'm confident this is not your Maria Catherine Menke. I wish I could be of more help! I am looking for more information about the parents of Marie Catherine Menke born 1808 in Hanover, Germany but the exact location could be a bit off. She died in Indiana and I think came overseas with her husband John Frederick Woerdeman from Oldenburg, Germany.BloomingtonLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13630489788517286033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7428431605173662318.post-1297719672479486582016-09-05T22:11:48.246-05:002016-09-05T22:11:48.246-05:00I do not have a Heinreich Stallbories or any simil...I do not have a Heinreich Stallbories or any similar name in my database.
